It's almost like we are natives here
So finally both of us are feeling well enough to walk around today, and it's even fairly warm (-5). Amongst the wonders of stores with shoes for $1000 (and yes, the store is called Kaligula, so if you remember the actual movie, there was a scene when Kaligula basically rapes newly-wed couple, both husband and wife, so I imagine shoppers feel about the same) and street vendors, we also managed to find a cool portugese restaurant. This find is what's causing me to start feeling like I am almost at home, since Moscow is really about theaters and restaurants (well, I guess clubs as well if you are into that sort of thing). www.portu-atrium.ru Why do we all feel this need to get together around food??? | | Wednesday, February 8th, 2006 | | 3:31 pm |
mundane stuff
For those who care how things are....IT'S STILL -30!!! No, it's not just today, it's constantly. I must have done something wrong in my previous life, but then maybe eto Moskali. The most interesting development is that somewhere between Chicago and Moscow I lost my identity. To some I am a foreigner, to some I am Hohol, and I have not figured out which one is good or bad. Zhidov poka ne b’ut…maybe it’s because there is too many of us here. And of course we started обкультуриваться…the old way: Нашли бывшего авганца-льготника, так что с билетами все схвачено. Saw Королевские игры. The play itself is not bad, but I did not consider it to be as good as most reviews did. Bronevoi played wonderfully, but proving that he is really suited for comedic roles only. I am not sure if there is a point to go on considering that most people will not just hop on a plane to see this play. So we came, we bought tickets in the dark alley (yes), потолкались в гардеробе, and saw a decent play. | | Monday, January 23rd, 2006 | | 2:24 am |

Much better
Wow...it's now much better. Wife took some plastic wrap and taped it to the windows, even found some tape (it's like we have everything). It's now a bit warmer in the apartment, so wifey can now go from 3 layers to 2 layers. We will go outside soon, so should be more confortable. Most important: moved the closet by the wall, spliced some wires and connected it the phone wire running behind it, so now we have 40K dial-up!!!! WooHoo!!! | | Thursday, January 19th, 2006 | | 8:08 pm |

So apparently I need to write a preface. Let's see how short I can make it: have to move to wonderful country of Russia...promised to report back. |
